Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!

Consistency of messaging with best management practices

Clean, Drain, Dry

Ongoing, “passive” outreach resources for boaters

Boat ramp signs are present with Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! messaging.

Temporary, targeted outreach to boaters

Outreach is conducted by IN DNR at the Indiana State Fair and covers all aspects of an AIS program, including recreational boating pathway prevention. Targeted outreach is also conducted during the annual regional AIS Landing Blitz focused on preventing the spread of AIS through the recreational boating pathway. IN DNR staff and IL-IN Sea Grant staff speak with boaters at boat ramps during the event, educating them about AIS prevention efforts and how to effectively reduce spread through cleaning, draining, and drying boats

Outreach to associated audiences and industries

Outreach is conducted by IN DNR at trade shows. Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! Winch post stickers are also provided to manufacturers to include in boat sale packets.
