Millions of dollars are annually invested into coastal wetlands projects across the Great Lakes Basin. Explore our chart to learn about the types of projects that are funded.
Public agencies and private organizations are investing significant resources across the Great Lakes to protect, restore, and enhance coastal wetlands. To help understand the scope of these investments, project data from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program, and the Michigan Coastal Management Program are integrated to produce the map and dashboard that follows below. This is not a comprehensive inventory of coastal wetland investments, so the Assembly and Blue Accounting will continue to identify and incorporate relevant data sets to better assess the scope and impact of these investments.
These investments in coastal wetlands represent a commitment of resources on the part of multiple agencies and private entities. The maps and dashboards enable funders, decision-makers, and managers to assess the geographic distribution of these investments over time and for different types of investments. You can find the full suite of investment data within the map above, and the cards below focus on highlights that may be of particular interest.
