To assist farmers in proper nutrient placement, the Ohio Applicator Forecast Website was launched in May 2017. The forecast is designed to help nutrient applicators identify times when the weather-risk for applying is low.
The risk forecast is part of a regional Runoff Risk Decision Support project. Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio have partnered with several federal agencies and educational institutions to develop the decision-support tools. In Ohio, the project is a collaboration of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the National Weather Service, USDA's Agricultural Research Service, the Ohio State University, and the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
